TRIG STAR WINNERS ANNOUNCED
Mitchell Le and Mr. John Zuba |
Two students, Mitchell Le, a junior at East High School, and Hunter Loveridge, a junior at Roosevelt High School, both in Rockford, are the Trig-Star competition winners at their respective schools. Not only did they both score exceptionally well on the one-hour test involving trigonometric problems, but they also scored the highest in the shortest amount of time.
Trig-Star is an annual competition for high school students that is based on practical applications of trigonometry as used by land surveyors. HLR has been sponsoring this event since 2010, and looks forward to the yearly opportunity to educate students curious about the field and encourage them to explore surveying as a possible career choice.
Six high schools throughout Illinois participated in this year’s competition. HLR sponsored two out of those six, and of the 160 Illinois students who took the test, 129 came from East High School.
We are so proud of Mitchell, Hunter, and all of the other participants as well as the teachers who instructed and encouraged them to compete!
