Multi-Year Street Improvement Plan and Downtown Streetscape
The Village of Glencoe wanted to provide a 20-year plan to improve 90% of the Village streets. The Village’s residential streets needed improvement to address drainage issues and pavement failures, and the downtown needed a facelift to maintain its vitality.
HLR provided design and construction engineering services for this long-term project. Improvements included widening and reconstruction of existing pavements, PCC and bituminous base courses, curb and gutter, storm sewers, underground stormwater detention, water main, and street lighting. The downtown area was improved with brick pavers, raised planters with stone seat walls, new street lights, and a holiday lighting system for illuminating trees in the central business district.
