Elgin Community College Wetland Mitigation
Elgin Community College (ECC) required 18 acres of wetland mitigation. Due to the size and location of the land, extensive coordination with the USEPA and USACE was required to complete the on-site wetland mitigation plan.
HLR’s environmental team assisted ECC in designing, surveying, and permitting an on–site wetland mitigation plan. This included the completion of a wetland delineation and report, permitting, development of an extensive seeding and planting plan, installation of a drain tile valving system, soil and erosion control plan, grading plan, and associated specifications.
HLR prepared the bid documents and assisted ECC throughout the bid process. We also conducted maintenance activities in 2015 to control the spread of invasive species throughout the site. Our team conducted oversight of construction in Fall 2015 and then installed the native seed. Work continued in the summer of 2016 with the installation of approximately 17,500 live native plants.
HLR completed monitoring and maintenance activities as required by the USACE for 5 years obtaining USACE acceptance in Summer of 2021. HLR will continue long-term maintenance on the site.
