Dean Street – Safe Routes to School
The walkway leading to Olson, St. Mary, and Westwood Elementary Schools was unsafe and inaccessible. The City of Woodstock received a grant to make much needed ADA-compliance improvements to these paths.
HLR provided a Phase I report, Phase II design, and Phase III construction observation for the project which included the preparation of detailed plans, specifications, and estimates along with bid documents. Our team also performed topographic and right-of-way surveys and prepared plats and legal descriptions. Improvements included new ADA-compliant sidewalks, drainage improvements, HMA shoulder, curb and gutter, and extensive landscaping to enhance the walkway and to screen it from residences. Throughout all phases, our team coordinated information with the City of Woodstock, School District 200, residents of South and Dean Streets, and the Illinois Department of Transportation.
