College Drive Water Line and Sidewalk Replacement
College Drive, an arterial route through downtown Mt. Carmel, was in need of a larger water line due to increased water usage. Because this route is heavily traveled and a main connection to the local hospital and college, the project needed to be completed with minor interruptions and closures.
Our team assisted the City by providing design engineering and construction observation for a new, larger water line along College Drive as well as ADA-compliant sidewalks. This route connects the downtown to Wabash General Hospital, Wabash Valley College, a city park, several residential neighborhoods, and also connects to a County Highway.
The project area contains large amounts of existing infrastructure and underground utilities along with a narrow right-of-way. There were few options available for the water line location that met regulatory spacing requirements. Our engineers developed a plan to install the water line within the roadway section utilizing a trench installation method. Adjacent existing pavement, curb and gutter, and sidewalk were reconstructed along with necessary pavement widening.
