MILNE CREEK STREAMBANK STABILIZATION PROJECT WINS PROJECT OF THE YEAR
Congratulations to the City of Lockport for winning the APWA Project of the Year Award from the Southwest Branch in the Environmental Category for their Milne Creek Streambank Stabilization Project.
Severe erosion has been occurring along the entire stretch of Milne Creek within the City of Lockport. Hampton, Lenzini and Renwick, Inc. (HLR) conducted an assessment of the entirety of Milne Creek and prioritized sections to be addressed and provided solutions for each section. This project addressed the worst section experiencing erosion. Challenges included space constraints, weather, and an expedited schedule. Coordination with the City, residents, utilities, contractor, pedestrians, school children/bus routes, IDNR Office of Water Resources and the Army Corps of Engineers were all important components. HLR provided design, utility and regulatory coordination, easements, bid assistance and construction oversight in coordination with the City of Lockport. The project construction was completed within two months – meeting the ambitious project schedule.
Thank you to the City of Lockport and those who helped with the success of this project: Rubino Engineering, Inc., Hanes Geo Components, and Misfits Construction Company. To learn more about HLR’s services, click here.
