LINDEN AND PRESTON EMERGENCY REPAIR WINS APWA PROJECT OF THE YEAR AWARD
Congratulations to the City of Elgin for winning the APWA Project of the Year Award from the Fox Valley Branch in the Disaster or Emergency Construction/Repair category for their Linden and Preston Emergency Repair Project.
After a severe storm event in July 2017, flash flooding caused stormwater to engulf the intersection of Preston and Linden in Elgin. The excessive stormwater caused erosion of the roadway and slope and created a mudslide that flowed to the bottom, overwhelming three properties.
The City of Elgin called upon Hampton, Lenzini and Renwick, Inc. (HLR) for an emergency response while the incident was actively occurring. We provided design, right-of-way plats, appraisals, negotiations, easements, bidding, and construction. The project was completed within nine months, from start to finish – meeting the ambitious project schedule.
