LONGMEADOW PRESS BRIEFING
HLR made headlines after participating in a press briefing regarding the expansive Longmeadow Parkway project in northern Kane County held on Wednesday, August 25, 2016.
HLR’s Preliminary Engineering Manager, Amy McSwane, and Design Engineering Manager, Randy Newkirk, were there alongside Environmental Manager and speaker, Erica Spolar. Erica discussed how the Longmeadow Parkway Bridge Corridor is “the most environmentally sound option” the Kane County Division of Transportation can implement to reduce heavy traffic congestion in the rapidly growing area. She educated attendees on all of the County’s plans to mitigate and reduce environmental impacts. Some of these plans include planting twice the amount of trees that need to be cut down, creating new wetlands, and doing work in the off-season to minimize and eliminate impacts to native endangered species like the Blanding’s Turtle.
